Hi everyone.

It's Emma, I'm back for another blog post.

After the popularity of the Fruit Cup Fade, we've had some requests for a square version. I am happy to bring you part one of the Fruit Cup Squared.  It has also given me a chance to use the Ombre Fade kit - the Papatya Batik version. You can use either the Ombre or the Original Fruit Cup colourways to make either the squared version or the original rectangular blanket. Fruit Cup squared measures 130 x 130 cm.

Find the fruit cup kits here

You can find the link to the original blanket here

Materials:

In today's post we are working the increase half, and using the following colours:

  • Raspberry - 554-05
  • Mango - 554-07
  • Banana - 554-09
  • Lime 554-03

Papatya Batik is 100% Premium Acrylic DK/8ply, and we use one ball of each.

We only use half the Lime in part one and will use the remainder in Part 2.

You will also need:

  • a 5 mm hook
  • and a tapestry needle

Pattern is written in US terms

ch - chain

sc - single crochet

sk - skip

sp - space

Raspberry:

Make a chain of 3.

Row 1: Sk 2 ch, (sc, ch 1, sc) in last ch, turn. (2 sc)

Row 2: Ch 3, sc in ch-1 sp, ch 1, (sc, ch 1, sc) in ch-2 sp, turn. (3 sc)

Row 3: Ch 3, (sc, ch 1) in each ch-1 sp across*, (sc, ch 1 sc) in ch-3 sp, turn. (4 sc)

Row 4 - 80: Ch 3, (sc, ch 1) in each ch-1 sp across, (sc, ch 1 sc) in ch-3 sp, turn (81 sc)

 Mango:

Join new yarn by undoing the previous stitch one step, and redoing with new colour – use this technique throughout pattern.

Pattern repeat: Ch 3, (sc, ch 1) in each ch-1 sp across, (sc, ch 1 sc) in ch-3 sp, turn.

(Remember: the 1st sc of each row is in the chain space between the increase stitches, make sure you don't miss it.)
